  • Jan. 18, 2020 - Colt Starting: Preparing the young horse for a first ride

    • This clinic will start at 9:00 a.m. and go until 4:00 p.m. with a break for lunch from 12:00 - 1:00. Lunch will be provided for participants. Only 6 spots are available so that everyone will get enough individualized teaching throughout the clinic. The clinic will be held at J Family Equine's facilities in Monroe.

    • Topics that will be covered may include, but are not limited to: proper response to pressure, leading and backing, body control on the ground, familiarizing your horse to objects and situations, first saddling, the Jeffreys method, and more.

    • Audits are welcome for $20.​

  • April 25, 2020 - Obstacle Clinic for Confidence Building in Horse and Handler

    • What we will work on at this clinic:
      - Building a better relationship and foundation of trust between you and your horse.
      - Boosting your horse’s confidence in himself and his handler.
      - Giving you and your horse the tools you need to overcome "scary" objects and situations.
      - Boosting rider/handler confidence.
      - Establishing proper communication and maneuverability with your horse.
      - And of course, having fun with our equines! ;)

       

    • More Information:
      - The clinic can be done in hand or on horseback, with a beginner or experienced rider.
      - Obstacles may include: pool noodles, umbrellas, wood bridge, flag, curtain, tarp, ball, balloons, ropes, crossing logs, dragging objects, and more!
      - The clinic will go from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a break for lunch from 12:00 - 1:00. Lunch will be provided for participants.
      - Cost is $150 per horse, with a $25 deposit to hold your spot.
      - At this time, audits are limited due to the Coronavirus.
      - The clinic will be held at J Family Equine’s facilities at 172 E. 2200 N. Monroe, Utah.
      - Jade Savage Photography will be taking photos at the clinic. Jade takes amazing photos and really captures the moments you'll want to remember from the clinic!
      - Redmond Equine products will be available for purchase at the clinic!

      - There will be a photographer taking photos at the clinic to capture the fun moments you will want to remember.
      - Redmond Equine products will be available for purchase at the clinic!

  • June 28, 2020 - Obstacle Challenge!

    • Do you think your horse has what it takes to complete an obstacle course with the best time? Bring your horse to the Monroe City Arena and go through J Family Equine's Obstacle Challenge!

    • There will be 10 obstacles to complete.  Each rider will have a 5 minute time limit in the arena to complete the obstacles course. The rider who completes all 10 obstacles with the best time will be the 1st place winner.

    • This event will start at 10:00 a.m. and go until each rider has had a chance to compete.

    • Cost: $30 per rider. Cash or Paypal are accepted.  Please include an extra $1.17 for any Paypal payments. Paypal is https://paypal.me/JFamilyEquine

    • Prizes:  There will be a 70% payout, with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place payouts.

    • IMPORTANT:  Each participant will be required to sign a waiver stating that they are riding and participating at their own risk.  J Family Equine and/or Monroe City are not liable for any accidents a rider may have on their horse, or for any risk of getting Covid-19. Participants and spectators are welcome to bring their own mask as well as their own hand sanitizer and any other protective measures they feel are necessary. Disinfectant and hand sanitizer will be available at the arena entrance.

    • The following are Monroe City's guidelines for Covid-19:

      • Participants should have their symptoms checked prior to competing. Any person not feeling well should not attend.

      • Spectators should maintain social distancing of 6 feet between household groups and wear face coverings when social distancing guidelines are difficult to maintain.

      • Bleachers/stands will not be available for use. Spectators are encouraged to sit in grassy areas following 6-ft. social distancing at all times and are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs.

      • No handshaking/celebrations: Participants and spectators should refrain from handshakes, high fives, fist/elbow bumps, chest bumps, group celebrations, etc.
